Fair Trade Croydon
On May 24th, as part of National Vegetarian week,
Fair Enough shop will hold a tasting of vegetarian Fairtrade
products.
Most Fairtrade producers are primary producers involved in agriculture. For too long we have been encouraged to imagine that food is cheap, but the low prices have been maintained by subsidies to farmers in developed countries, compounded by tariffs on the produce of developing countries. Commodity prices are soaring, thanks to the rapidly growing demand for crops for bio-fuels. Whilst this could be regarded as good news for farmers in developing countries, it is likely that industrial, large-scale farmers may well move to push subsistence farmers off the land. Fairtrade relationships will work to empower farmers to resist these pressures.
The Vegetarian ethos is built on respect for all life, and has much in common with the aims of the Fairtrade movement. We believe that those who produce our food should receive a fair reward for their labour.

Learn more about Dove's Farm Foods, manufacturers of Fairtrade and organic flapjacks and cakes.
Learn more about the Venture Foods, manufacturers of organic and vegetarian foodstuffs, including vegan fairtrade chocolate.
Learn more about Clipper Teas, manufacturers of Fairtrade and speciality teas.
On May 24th all customers at the Fair Enough shop, 136 Church Street, opposite Croydon Parish Church, will be able taste the tea and other goods. Our "Spring Sale", with lots of fairtrade craft goods on sale at reduced prices is still on-going. Don't worry - the producers have already been paid the agreed price, but we and our suppliers need to clear space in our shop and warehouses in order to bring in new product and help even more people in majority world countries to build a sustainable lifestyle.
