You just have to love Ben – He isjust such a lovely guy as well as a talented chef. No wonder he finally made it with a restaurant of his very own, where he can do just what he wants to do, without someone lacking his same passion for food messing it all up. A vegetarian catering pedigree that includes Country Life, and Plant he is obviously learnt from the mistakes of others and is getting it all right this time. It seems like a strange location but with earls court just around the corner and lots of big economy conference hotels surrounding 222 hes stumbled on a way to insure he enters the vegetarian history books. It ismore Cranks than The Ivy, lots of wood with a kind of stylish cafe feel to it and far less frantic than Mildreds. The food is as you may expect similar to Plant but Ben has grown into his style and the food has far more soul in it now. Presentation is artful without being too fussy, portions are ample, with that world fusion style his fans have grown to love.
Good beers and wine on offer, puddings are awesome (especially the chocolate cake) but there is still room to bring them to the same standard as his main courses or Mildreds desserts.
Baby friendly if you go early – they have a high chair.
Have a read of the menu.
