UK Vegetarian Society AGM 2008
vsuk
The 39th Anual General Meeting of The UK Vegetarian Society. Saturday 20th September 2008 at 2.30pm at Parkdale, Altrincham, Manchester, Cheshire. This year it will be debated whether a minimum criteria for dairy animals should finally be introduced similar to welfare standards introduced by Marks and Spencer, The Soil association, RSPCA, CIWF, FAWC and GM standards suggested by Greenpeace and the 5 year Freeze network.
There is currently a loose minimum standard for hens but not for cows and despite the Vegetarian Society's anti GM stance they make no checks on GM food fed to dairy. The letter to Vegetarian Society Members detailing the motions to the Vegetarian Society AGM on Animal Welfare, McDonalds and the Vegetarian Society Approved logo can be viewed here -
