Croydon Eco Expo a festival of green and environmentally friendly follows on from The Croydon Food Festival putting Croydon on the map for more than just shopping and drinking.

Between 17 – 27 October, Croydon’s Eco Expo will inspire and celebrate sustainable living. Are you ready to play a key role in creating a low carbon future for Croydon? Can you help to create a sustainable community?
Finding answers to climate change is one of the greatest challenges of our century, so come and be part of these powerful events.
Thursday, 16 October Sustainable Design 9:00am - 12:00pm | Aerodrome Hotel | Purley Way, Croydon Invitation only Seminar. Introduction to district heating, waste and recycling, construction, use of recycled materials, delivery and demolition logistics.
Thursday, 16 October to Monday, 27 October The Eco Home Demonstrator 10:00am - 5:00pm | North End, Croydon A model of eco living - energy and water efficiency inspiring you to make changes in your home and save money.
Saturday, 18 October Public launch 10:00am - 5:00pm | Whitgift Centre | North End, Croydon Team Extreme, the UK’s only professional team for BMX, Skateboarding and Inline skating displays, performers and coaches. Many of whom hold World and European titles. Come along to this alternative freestyle sports event, full of urban creativity. Extreme athletes showcase complex moves on a mini ramp set to music. They will also provide skills training workshops geared toward teaching young people how to ride or skate safely, encouraging an active lifestyle. Equipment provided. A great day out!
Saturday, 18 October Eco Music Fest 8:00pm - late| The Green Dragon | 50-60 High Street, Croydon The Green Dragon bring you an extravaganza of fantastic live music, while at the same time supporting the planet. Guest band “Recoup” will be playing live.
Sunday, 19 October Indecent Exposure 1:00pm - 3:00pm | Start: The Queen’s Gardens | Katharine Street, Croydon The wildest event of the year! We expose our underwear to draw attention to the negative environmental and social impacts of a car dominated culture. Ride your bike or anyone’s bike and make a “wheel” difference. Monday, 20 October Sustainable schools in Croydon 3:30pm - 6:00pm | Courtwood Primary | Court Wood Lane (Refreshments served from 3.30pm – 4.00pm) All schools and colleges in Croydon are invited to attend. Courtwood Primary will be hosting this event to showcase it’s achievements towards becoming a more environmentally friendly school – with particular emphasis on the school grounds and local well-being. The session will also cover Courtwood’s plans for the future; introduce the DCSF’s Sustainable Schools’ framework, the Government Office for London’s Sustainable Schools’ Forum. This will be an opportunity to network and discuss support available in Croydon. More Information...

Friday, 24 October Composting Class 10:00am & 2:00pm | Spa Hill Allotments | 180 Spa Hill, London SE19 3TU. Composting is nature’s way of recycling. By using the natural process of decomposition, organic materials often considered “waste”, such as grass clippings, food scraps, autumn leaves and even paper, can be recycled back into the soil conditioner. Anything that once was living will decompose. These sessions will cover everything from using plastic “dalek” bins in small gardens up to our medium sized allotment operation, which uses 8 cubic metre bins. Demonstrations galore, rain or shine.

Monday, 27 October Climate Change Partnership 10:00am – 12:00pm| Braithwaite Hall | Katharine Street, Croydon Invitation only. Mark Edward’s startlingly original presentation explores the state of the world at this critical time. The combined problems of climate change, poverty and the sixth great extinction are shown alongside innovative solutions being developed by businesses. This will urge us to be part of the solutions that will define the 21st Century. This session launches the New Environment and Climate Change Partnership, which will lead Croydon beyond Carbon.
