Once again Croydon leads by example in trying to encourage people to eat more fruit and vegetables for the benefit of health and the environment, this time on World Vegan Day 1st November

Croydon Nutritionist Yvonne Bishop-Weston is leading a campaign to encourage UK high street pizza restaurant chains to add a healthy vegetable rich, wholemeal pizza, free of saturated animal fat. Her nutrition company Foods for Life has created a recipe with 64 healthy ingredients, one ingredient for every year of veganism since 1944.

Peppertons vegetarian restaurant, just around the corner from Croydon’s Brit Pop Brit School, at 25 Selhurst Rd, Croydon,will be offering a special vegan menu for World Vegan Day complete with vegan beer or vegan wine and the most delicious choice of vegan cakes served with vegan ice cream. The following week Peppertons winter art exhibition brings together twenty two ethical artists of very diverse styles, genres and mediums. Peppertons will be presenting works in Sculpture, Painting, Prints, Photography, Installation and Film. There will also be live singers and performers on the Private View Evening on November 9th 2007, 6.30 - 10.00pm.

Oasis Natural Health Food Shop , 96 the high street,Croydon will as usual be offering free tasters of new vegan foods, offering free vegan recipe leaflets, and giving away 64 free vegan gifts per day. One delicious vegan pressie for every year since the word vegan was first created by Donald Watson in November 1944. Oasis will also be offering hour long consultations with Harley Street and Croydon Nutritionist Yvonne Bishop-Weston for only £64, keeping the “will you still feed me when I’m 64” theme of World Vegan Day 2008.

Croydon Vegetarians in conjunction with Foods for Life will be searching Croydon for the top 10 best places for vegetarians and vegans to eat in Croydon.
